Keesha Mclean is a highly motivated vocal coach and performance mentor with 20 years of vocal coaching and mentoring experience in London, United Kingdom and now Cairns, Australia.
Keesha has a strong track record of inspiring, motivating and creating opportunities for vocalists of all ages and abilities to achieve their true potential and voice. Everyone DOES have a voice!
Keesha studied voice under Lynette Casey and Bettine McCaughan and piano with Len Vorster & Michael Easton at the Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music, Melbourne graduating with Honours in Vocal Performance. Keesha travelled to London, Europe and New York, studying with acclaimed vocal coaches and repetiteurs Margaret Lobo, Jeffrey Talbot, Phillip Doghan, Ludmilla Andrew and Stephen Rose to name a few, establishing a successful vocal studio in South London, coaching students of all ages, levels and goals from musical theatre and classical to contemporary, jazz, pop, blues and rock.
Keesha became in demand, mentoring performance, preparation for auditions, workshops and masterclasses, as well as liaising with casting agents for West End and Film.
Many of Keesha’s students have successfully gained places at prestigious London vocational performing arts, musical theatre and music institutions, and are now successfully working professionally in London’s West End, West End touring shows and as professional vocalists in their genres in London, Europe and now Cairns & Melbourne, Australia.
Keesha has numerous years experience mentoring and coaching young adults with learning disabilities in the performing arts. An extraordinary and rewarding challenge, which Keesha is continuing with her studio, in Cairns.
Keesha continues to research and work on improving and evolving her own vocal pedagogy by continuing professional development nationally and in London through regular mentoring visits and sessions with voice specialists. Keesha has successfully, completed Estill Voice International Certificate in Figure Proficiency (CFP), participation in three Estill Level 1 & 2 Voice Craft Courses in Melbourne and Sydney, facilitated an Estill Introduction Course by The Voice Gym, Melbourne for her students in Cairns, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Creative & Professional Practice, CQU.
Keesha recently attended Voice workshops by Anne-Marie Speed ( The Voice Explained Associates, London ) in Melbourne and London and is currently being mentored by Stephanie Marko for further Estill training.
Keesha is a lecturer of Voice and Musical Theatre at CQU University Cairns, Creative Arts Degree Course and committee member as advocate for MUSIC for RADF ( Regional Arts Development Fund ) through Cairns Regional Council and Arts Queensland.
Keesha Mclean recently launched the Emerging Artist Mentor Programme in 2018 for students and local artists, requiring much needed music industry pathways, and mentoring for pursuing a career in music and the performing arts.
Keesha is in demand as Entertainment Consultant for venues, festivals and music events as well as facilitating Voice Workshops and coaching for Public Speakers in Cairns and Far North Queensland.
